The motion of a bench press is relatively simple. You are bringing a weight down towards your chest, then pushing it up away from you in order to target your pectoralis major. The motion of a Universal bench press is guided and can only be done in one plane of movement. The bars and weights are set. It's Not Really 100 Pounds

Weight on a Universal machine is different than on a real bench press. Free weights such as barbells and dumbbells "keep the resistance on a muscle constant throughout a joint’s range of motion," according to IDEA Health & Fitness Association. On a Universal machine, or any selectorized equipment, the resistance is varied. The machine manufacturers do this deliberately in order to match your body's strong and weak points in a movement. For example, you may be able to do an upright row for your shoulders with 10-pound dumbbells. But when you switch to lateral raises, you might need to lighten the load to 6- or 7-pound dumbbells. That's because your muscles involved in the movement are not as effective when working in the lateral position; they are essentially weaker than they were when used in the upright-row position. The same goes for a bench press, which is why the levers and pulleys of an exercise machine adjust the weight as you go through the movement, which makes the resistance inconsistent.

The Question of Dominance

In theory, both arms should be pushing equally to lift the resistance up and down during the bench press. However, kobe shoes everyone has a dominant, stronger side to their body. When you do a barbell bench press, you will immediately know if one side is pushing more than the other because the bar will tip. You can then adjust as needed. If you are new to weight training, or have issues that compromise balance, a Universal bench press is a suitable choice. Start there and as you advance, and with a spotter, try the real bench press with a barbell. If you always use a barbell, change it up and try the Universal machine. Stick with one of the exercises for four to six weeks, and then vary your routine and try the other.
